Stockport Arts Trail

Community and Public artist Karen Allerton working in partnership with Stockport’s Youth Offending Service and Public Health, to create Stockport Art Trail.

The trail aims to encourage people to explore the local area, gain an insight into its past, discover its hidden treasures and explore its streets, parks and green spaces.

Designs for the 5 artworks located in and around Stockport Town Centre have been created by a group of young people who took part in a programme of arts based activity.

Throughout the project they have had the opportunity to work alongside a professional artist, work towards an Arts Award qualification and gain new practical skills in many different areas including photography and computer aided design.

Stockport Arts Trail is a 7km circuit that encourages people to explore many of Stockport Town Centre’s landmark features and places of interest; it then takes you through the parks and streets of Edgeley. It has been designed in a way that can easily be broken down and completed in smaller segments.

Artworks by young people attending an Arts Award course at

Stockport Central Library are located on lampposts in

                                                        various locations throughout Edgeley.
